FAQ

Grass-Fed vs. Grass-Fed & Finished

At Dog Bone Cattle, we believe customers deserve simple, honest answers.

Grass-Fed Beef

All cattle start out on grass. When beef is labeled “grass-fed,” it only means the animal ate grass at some point. Most of these cattle are still finished on grain before processing.

Grass-Fed & Finished Beef

This means the animal stayed on grass its entire life—no grain at all. Just pasture, sunshine, and time to grow naturally here at Dog Bone Cattle. This is the truest form of 100% grass-fed beef.

What is the difference between a quarter, half and whole?

Quarter

Roughly 90-100 lb of packaged beef. Will fit in an 3.5-5 cubic foot freezer. (You receive the full variety of cuts across the entire animal.)

Half

Roughly 180-195 lb of packaged beef. Will fit in a 7-10 cubic foot freezer.

(You receive the full variety of cuts across the entire animal.)

Whole

Roughly 90-100 lb of packaged beef. Will fit in 14-18 cubic foot freezer.

(You receive the full variety of cuts across the entire animal.)
